Creating a New Subversion Repository

These are notes on how I create a new Subversion source code repository on this server. They may or may not be of use to others, since portions are fairly specific to this particular installation and subversion usage model.

On server:
- su
- su - svn
- cd repos
- svnadmin create NEWREPOS
- cp OLDREPOS/conf/{svnserve.conf,passwd} NEWREPOS/conf/
- # edit NEWREPOS/conf/svnserve.conf to change realm
- exit # from su - svn
- exit # from su
- # edit /home/svn/web/index.html to add project
- # edit /usr/local/viewcvs-2004.02.17/viewcvs.conf to add project to svn_roots
- create project home web page
On client:
- svn mkdir -m "Initial repository setup." svn://svn.brouhaha.com/NEWREPOS/{branch,tags,trunk}
- cd ~/mysrc
- mkdir NEWREPOS
- cd NEWREPOS
- svn checkout svn://svn.brouhaha.com/NEWREPOS/trunk trunk
- cd trunk
- # create or copy files
- svn add FILES...
- svn propset svn:keywords "Id" *.[ch] FILES...
- svn commit -m "Initial checkin."
